Anti Oppressive Practice Cards - Prompt Cards for Social Workers

Anti-oppressive practice (AOP) is an essential component of professional practice. However, in busy professional environments the opportunity to reflect on issues around AOP can be limited and sometimes professionals find conversations around oppression and anti-oppression challenging. This set of prompt cards is designed to be used in a range of ways to prompt reflection; support learning; facilitate difficult conversations; boost confidence and promote accountability.

This set contains more than 60 cards and an explanatory booklet which provides hints and tips on using the cards to promote anti-oppressive practice. Every card contains a suggestion for practice and a reflective question to support all stakeholders to explore anti-oppressive practice in new and creative ways.

Prospera is a Professor of Racial Justice and Social Work at University College Dublin. Her work on anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and culturally informed social work focuses on challenging structural inequality and advancing culturally responsive practice in education, supervision, and placement learning.

Siobhan is an independent practice educator. She has a particular commitment to social work theory, reflective practice and anti-oppressive practice as the basic building blocks of professional practice. She enjoys developing creative resources for practice.
